Renault Megane review by Chris Monk 12-27-2003 Overall rating: 7/10 Good points:
Nice styling, although not to everybody's choice, but that makes it more appealing. Good performance, good ride, excellent equipment levels. Bad points:
Totally unreliable, first breakdown was after only 99 miles from new. Spent 12.5 days in dealer within first 3 months and 4k miles. Mainly silly electrical problems. No sympathy from Renault UK, although dealer did take complaints seriously and eventually agreed to replace it free of charge. New car has lasted 1.5 k miles without any problems, fingers well crossed....
Minor critisism, 2 door model has excessively large doors which cause problems in narrow car parks etc. Main review:
Altogether a nice compact well appointed car at a sensible price (although £1k for auto seems steep.
Even though I had major problems with the first, I am still happy with the replacement. The big test will be whether I would buy another Renault, on that the jury is still out. Reliability: 3/10 Practicality: 9/10 Performance: 7/10 Value for money: 9/10
