Renault Megane review by Berkeley Fuller6-17-2005
Overall rating: 9/10 Good points: Crisp, predictable handing (steering excellent) Great balance between handling and ride Superb body and interior build quality Excellent, supportive seats Surprisingly peppy (the smallest 1.4 engine) Terrific AND functional high-tech features: keyless entry & ignition AND remote tyre pressure monitoring Excellent electronic speed control Bad points: Less than ideal rear visibility (headrests block) Dealer-recommended 98-octane gasoline (expensive) Power assisted clutch and brakes a litte soft for my taste (would like more feedback) Main review: We "bought" a 4-door Megane Mark-II using Renault's EuroDrive program for "estrangers" (foreign tourists). Drove it a lot for over three weeks. We were stunned at the high quality, comfort, handling and very unusual and appealing styling (interior and exterior). When we return to Europe to visit OR live this car will be very high on our list (perhaps with the 2006 model year's standard SIX-speed manual shift for use on high-speed roadways.
Reliability: 10/10 Practicality: 10/10 Performance: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10
