Nissan Micra Review & Road Test

Review by www.new-car-reviews.co.uk

Nissan Micra

Drivers
Five engines to choose from, starting at the trusted 1.0L, then the new 1.2L petrol and of course the 1.4L, though you hardly notice the different between the latter two. There are also a couple of 1.5L diesels for the conservationists. Light steering and firmer suspension sees the new Micra popping round country lane corners with pleasure. It easily picks up at motorway speed and as long as you don't push it too hard, the refinement will hold out.

Passengers
Roomy in the front, not so roomy in the back. Rear headroom is restricted but leg room is adequate. Remember the Micra is a supermini, so don't expect to stretch out. Plenty of storage holes around and well placed utilities.

Practicality
The new Nissan Micra Very practical and very easy to park. Visibility if good and instruments are simple and well placed. The rear seats collapse and the rear bench slides forward 20cm to allow for extra boot space/less leg space, although the boot entrance is oddly shaped with quite a drop to the load floor.

Equipment
All new Nissan Micra versions comprise a slot CD player, power steering, electric front windows and remote central locking. Upper specs bring stereo joystick controls and intelligence key system allowing door locking and starting without the use of a key.

Safety & Security (previous model)

The new Nissan Micra hasn't been subjected to Euro NCAP tests as yet, and the previous version only scored a 2/5 on front and side impact crash tests. The new version comes with front driver and passenger airbags as standard. Lateral airbags in upper spec models.

Quality & Reliability
The build quality of the Nissan Micra has improved on previous versions. The interior smart, refinement good and the car feels more solid.

Owning
Not only is the Nissan Micra cute, it is also extremely. Great for zipping around town on a school run and roomy enough for the weekly shopping. Insurance groupings are low across the range and low value bumpers and wings keep those insurance premiums down. Resale values are expected to be average at this early stage.
