Ford Mondeo review by Robert Kelly8-1-2005
Overall rating: 9/10 Good points: I have an 04 Modeo TDci LX estate that replaced a Passat diesel estate. The Ford is better than the Passat in almost all respects. The engine is quieter and more responsive, the handling far tighter and more secure and the overall build excellent. It also has a large and usefully shaped load area, with easy access. Bad points: The only area that the Passat beat the Mondeo is in the quality of the rear load area, which in the Ford is not so rugged. The access covers for the tail lights on the Mondeo are flimsy and shoddy. Visibility on the driver's rear quarter is poor when you try and look over your shoulder, which makes checking behind before you pull out a bit tricky. The excellent wing mirrors help, but I prefer to be able to see directly what is there, rather than peer around the mirror, which takes longer. Main review: This is a well designed and built car that has proved to be economical, reliable, very practical and a pleasure to drive. The bad points, whilst irritating are minor and do not detract significantly from what is a fine car. Service from the local Ford agent has also been very efficient, though I haven't had to have anything really challenging dealt with. Highly recommended.
Reliability: 10/10 Practicality: 10/10 Performance: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10
