Good points:
As a concept the Mondeo is a fine car

Bad points:
When you get problems with Ford about a faulty part, just outside the guarantee period they make you feel you can drop dead. The next car, no ford however fine the Mondeo is. Your quote that Ford cars can rival the Volkswagen, is in my view way of the mark. Details available.
