Ford Mondeo review by Jan Hawken 6-17-2004 Overall rating: 9/10 Good points: Sleek body line, good looking car.
Excellent performance. Bad points: Poor postitioning of the radio on/off button, which gets switched off every time you select a forward gear.
Pathetic plastic dial clock ruins a smart dashboard.
Not keen on the forward selection of reverse gear.
Could do with a bigger fuel tank. Main review: Having previously owned an Audi A4 for 3 years, I bought the Mondeo because it had good fuel economy (2.0 diesel)was a very good looking car and represented good value for money in its range.
It has excellent safety features and a very smart dashboard, which is marred only by a few pence saving on a small and difficult to read analogue clock and the poor postition of the overlarge on/off radio push button right in the middle of the centre console.
I am not that keen on the position of the fuel cap unlock on the floor, which would be better placed just under the dashboard.
However these are only minor niggles in what is a superb performing car, smooth gear changing and for a diesel very quite.
A big improvement on the Audi A4 "tank" I used to drive. Reliability: 10/10 Practicality: 10/10 Performance: 9/10 Value for money: 9/10
