Fiat Punto review by Steve5-7-2005
Overall rating: 1/10 Good points: Looks nice sitting on the drive Bad points: To many to mention but a few are: terrible build quality (bits of trim falling off everywhere), oil leaks, noisy rear suspension, five clutches in 18,000 miles, gets through brakes, discs and front tyres like they are made of cheese, numerous electrical problems, I could go on. Main review: Unlike a lot of people I did not do any proper research when buying a new car, and it is probably my biggest regret to date as I have ended up with a Fiat Punto, probably the worst car ever made, certainly in 26 years of car ownership its by far the worst car I have ever owned. Since day one it has suffered major problems one of the main ones being that Puntos (especially it would seem the 8V versions) suffer from serious clutch judder, Fiat know about this and have been developing a modified clutch for the past 2 years, but have not found a solution, I have had five clutches in 2 years and the problem is still not solved, Fiat dealerships and FIAT UKs aferservice is practically non existent, after selling me the car, the dealer has been rude and unhelpful and on more than one occassion abusive and threatening, telling me it was my fault for buying a cheap car, and that was from a main Fiat dealership, totally unbelievable. Add to that other numerous mechanical problems, electrical problems, suspension problems and it all makes for a jolly time owning a Fiat Punto, please dont do it, read all the available customer reviews on the Internet and hopefully you wont make the same mistakes as me. I have given this car an overall rating of 1/10 just because it looks quite good.
