Citroen C2 Review & Road TestReview by www.new-car-reviews.co.uk
Summary Ride and handling of the new car has been developed with comfort in mind and the C2 copes well with potholes and uneven road surfaces. Its small size also assist its cornering abilities and it is a very nimble car around town. The only down side is the electric steering which provides very limited feedback (on all but the VTR model). Inside the new C2, the cabin is finished in plastics generally found in cars of this class and appears to be solidly constructed. All controls are well laid out and easy to use. Front seat passengers have lots of head and legroom, whilst the rear is a little more cramped. Usefully, the boot has a drop down tailgate that makes loading heavier items easier. Bootspace can also be extended thanks to folding rear seats. Equipment levels are also reasonable and include four airbags and remote central locking as standard. Engines options are the same as for the C3; three petrol units at 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 litres and a 1.4 litre HDI turbo-diesel and have been well proven in C3. The 1.6 litre unit provides 110bhp in the Citroen C2 VTR and propels the car from 0-60mph in around 10.9 seconds. The VTR also comes with a SensoDrive sequential transmission and steering column mounted paddle shifts. Out of town and at higher motorway speeds, the C2 remains refined with both wind and road noise being kept well within the limits of what you would expect of a car in this class. However, the engines can get a little vocal when pushed. NCAP safety and security test Review ©2009 New-car-reviews.co.uk Do you agree? Do you disagree?
