Audi A4 Review & Road TestReview by www.new-car-reviews.co.uk
Summary The most obvious changes are the improved dynamic characteristics of the new Audi A4, it is now almost 50% stiffer than the outgoing model. The new chassis has been further complemented with tweaks to the suspension and steering. The consequence of these engineering enhancements is that the car has now gained a sporting edge to its ride and handling without losing any of its suppleness over uneven road surfaces. The only potential criticism of the new set-up is that the steering is a little too light and lacks feedback. The A4 has a range of petrol and diesel engine choices, starting with a 1.6 petrol engine and ending with the 3.0 litre 4 wheel drive Quattro or Cabriolet at the top of the A4 range. Rear passenger space has also been enhanced (a major issue with the previous model) and two adults can be accommodated in the rear with plenty of head and legroom. Boot space remains excellent - as with the previous model. Step into the A4 and the new model retains the superb finish and quality feel that you would expect from Audi, controls are logically placed and operate with re-assuring solidity. Equipment levels are also up with the best in class with climate control and alloy wheels are standard on all models. On the down side, despite all of the enhancements to the cars dynamic qualities it still hasn't quite got the measure of the BMW 3-Series.
