Alfa Romeo Spider Review & Road TestReview by www.new-car-reviews.co.uk
Summary In general the Alfa Romeo Spider exaggerates both the positive and the negative qualities of the coupe GTV - on which it is based. For example the styling is even more striking and elegant and the hood further limits storage space. However, you are unlikely to buy an Alfa Romeo Spider for practicality and in almost all other respects the car doesn't disappoint. As with the GTV, a 2.0 litre petrol engine or the excellent 3.0 litre V6 engine power the car. Performance figures are identical but the V6 comes with a six speed manual transmission. On the down side the Spider body could do with a little more stiffness and scuttle shake is evident on most road surfaces. This also exaggerates interior build quality issues with cabin rattles being evident. Wind and tyre noise are also prevalent on the Alfa Romeo Spider even at moderate speeds. In the case of the higher-powered variants the Spider can also struggle to cope with the amount of power delivered to its front wheels. Review ©2006 New-car-reviews.co.uk Do you agree?
